Selfie Search: How Guests Find Their Own Photos
Selfie search is Function's signature feature. A guest takes one selfie, and instantly sees only the photos they appear in — out of hundreds or thousands of event photos.
How it works
- When you upload photos to an event, faces are scanned on your own device.
- A guest opens the gallery, taps "Find my photos", and takes a selfie with their phone camera.
- The selfie is matched against faces in the gallery, and only matching photos are shown.
- The selfie is processed entirely on the guest's phone. It is never uploaded, never stored, and never reaches Function's servers.
Privacy first
We never attach a name to a face. The face data is stored as numbers (mathematical descriptors), not images. When the gallery expires after 30 days, all face data is deleted along with the photos.
Tip: Selfie search works best when guests take the selfie in good lighting, facing the camera straight. It works across different hairstyles, glasses, and outfits.
